If you are a keen weaponry enthusiast the Orr’s Hill Army Museum is not to be missed. From tanks, rocket launchers, artillery guns, to rifles it exhibits a large collection of weapons used in the thirty year civil war of Sri Lanka. The museum has a lot of heavy weapons set up in the outdoors and you get into some of those tanks.

It is a museum established in 2015, at the 22 Division of Sri Lanka Army at Plantain Point, overlooking the beautiful Trincomalee harbour. Funds collected from the tickets were used for the welfare of veteran soldiers and their families. All the exhibits are well described with detailed boards.

There are audio and video introductions which walks you through the various battles fought, weapons used, and the strategies of the 30 year civil war and the colonial wars of Sri Lanka.

The museum offers air rifle shooting at an additional fee which could be a nice experience to have.
