A photographer's paradise. One of the new additions to the national parks in the island, Angammedilla is home for many wild elephants. After touring the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, a jeep safari at Angammedilla can bring you the joy of spotting wild elephants and rich water basins.

Bordering the giant Parakrama Samudraya elephants visits the shores for water and the fresh green grass.

The park was originally declared as a forest reserve to protect the drainage basins of Parakrama Samudraya, Minneriya Wewa and Giritale Irrigation tank.
