Displaying a collection of rare antiquities, the Jaffna Archaeological Museum preserves unearthing discoveries from the ancient and colonial eras. The museum was established in 1978 after a land was presented by the Arumuga Navalar Foundation. It exhibits several findings from Kandoradai, such as sculptures of Lord Buddha and a 7-mouthed instrumental pot. In addition, an assortment of religious artifacts, Dutch cannons, whale bones and a wooden palanquin are also showcased. Opening hours are from 8 a.m. to 4.45 p.m., except on Tuesdays. Don’t forget to take your camera to capture some amazing pictures.
