Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is a popular breeding ground in Sri Lanka, that houses many elephants in need. The beautiful sight of elephants soaking in the Maha Oya river, and the opportunity to feed these magnificent creatures is as remarkable as it sounds. The orphanage has the highest number of elephants in the world, nearing almost 100 elephants.

To view the bathing of the elephants, it takes place during 10 am to 12 pm, and 2 pm to 4 pm daily. Feeding times occur 3 times a day at 9.15 am, 12.15 pm and finally at 5 pm. To fund the well-being of the elephants, and maintenance of the orphanage, an entrance fee is charged as follows;
