Set on a rocky hill, Maahmpita Raja Maha Viharaya is, unfortunately, one of the region’s unknown attractions to travelers. It was the alleged hideout of King Valagamba, which was later converted into a temple. The temple’s notable highlights include a 2000 year old enormous stone inscription, and a stone replica of Lord Buddha’s footprint as it appears on Adam’s Peak.
