A place of extreme tranquility. Located towards the west from the Kohombana Junction on Ampara to Maha Oya main road, this ancient hermitage was built by King Saddatissa on top of a rocky hill during the 2nd-century BC. It is believed that the temple has about 50 drip ledged caves, however only about 10 of them have been identified with Brahmi cave inscriptions.
